It is common to go daily at the beginning of treatment. Your chiropractor will probably recommend treatments that are less frequent once he sees your body responding to the adjustments. Chiropractic adjustments are like having braces or retainers on your teeth, the movement needs to be repeated daily or your body will slip back to its former condition. Once your body has gotten used to the new alignment, you shouldn’t need to be adjusted as frequently. He will likely recommend that you gradually back off treatment, 3 times a week, then twice a week, then once a week. Many regular chiropractic patients get an adjustment once a week or so to maintain a healthy alignment.

When I have personally went to the chiropractor, mine has never told me it would take that long. Sometimes treatment does need to be an ongoing thing for a while. I have had lots of trouble with my back, neck and shoulders, starting when I was 9 yrs old. Back when I was 9, I did have to go a lot because my body was still growing and we were using treatments to help me straighten up my back. But from then on, I have not had to see the doc more than a couple of weeks, 2-3 times a week when there was a problem. Now when I developed some probs with my neck and shoulders I wasn’t responding to treatments. That time it took a while to work out the kinks. Maybe you should go for a few times and see how you feel. If you think the chiropractor has made enough progress, ask again how many more times you will have to be seen. If you think you need a second opinion, go with gut instinct.

Each person will go through a unique set of treatments. The adjustments from chiropractic take time and do have a significant benefit if you stick it out. There are published academic studies, from over the past 100 years, showing conclusively that chiropractic care is beneficial.
However, understand that medical doctors are trained to think that chiropractors are quacks. The ACA successfully sued the AMA in the 1970 when they showed in court that people were being paid by the medical community to distributing information about chiropractic care that was know to be false.

Depending on the severity of the misalignment, 30 treatments in 30 days could be necessary, however it seems a bit high, but not beyond reason.
I have seen some patients that needed daily treatments for 1-4 weeks, others that needed treatment every other day. Again, it depends on your particular situation. Talk to the Chiropractor, get feedback on why he is recommending this treatment regimen.
If you still feel uncomfortable, getting a second opinion is always your right.

Good chiropractors are great. The chiro schools of today are really good at teaching them how to make money though. A good one will make a huge difference in just a few visits. Get a second opinion with another chiropractor.
