How do I alleviate my chronic lower back pain?

I’m a 20 year old who hurt my lower (left) back doing a low row at the gym a few weeks ago. While the pain is never severe, its been pretty persistent and frankly, quite pesky. What exercises/rehab can I do to alleviate the pain? Help from physiotherapists or medical professionals would be most appreciated

Lower Back Pain Treatments

Lower back pain is causing a great concern in the United States. Moreover because it is in a recent study it is anticipated that four out of five adults in the United States will experience lower back pain in some point of their lives. Back pain being a common problem may sometimes hamper ones day to day life and may even lead to surgery. So it is always recommended to consult your physician even for the smallest back pain symptoms you will notice and get the advice before the problem grows.

Back Pain is indeed a very painful experience and ironically the severity of pain is often unrelated to the extent of physical damage it has caused. A simple strain can be extremely painful, while a herniated disk between vertebrate may cause little or no pain at all. Common causes of lower back pain can be found in the following:

But it is highly recommended that you consult your physician and follow his advice to avoid such emergency situations. In some cases if anytime you experience the following symptoms with a regular slow back pain you need to have an expert for emergency medical attention.

The symptoms are

Severe or constant pain in the lower back or abdominal region

Sudden bowel or bladder movements

A progressive feeling of weakness in the legs

An immediate medical attention saves you from any damage to your body and excruciating pain it may cause to you. For severe or chronic back pain, you should consider seeking lower back pain treatment, which is available in many forms. Lower back exercise can both help with back pain relief, and prevent it from recurring later. Most low back pain can be treated without surgery. Treatment involves using analgesics, reducing inflammation, restoring proper function and strength to the back, and preventing recurrence of the injury. Most patients with back pain recover without residual functional loss. Patients should contact a doctor if there is not a noticeable reduction in pain and inflammation after 72 hours of self-care. The best way is to take necessary precautions and make necessary changes in lifestyle, standing, sitting and sleeping positions and doing regular exercise. It is best to keep the back pain away from you and your family.

What can I do to get rid of lower back pain?

For a little over a week now I have had some lower back pain and it isn’t going away. I’ve tried taking tylenol and medications like that but nothing seems to be helping. Any ideas that could help this back pain?

Alex, you just don’t give enough specific information to give an answer as to why the problem. I would suggest that you try these movements as they should help most lower back problems. Sit in a kitchen chair and do these movements even if they don’t seem related to you back issues. Raise the left arm up as high as it can go and then relax it. Do the right arm the same way and you will find that one arm will go up higher. Start with the arm that goes up the most. Raise that arm up as high as it will go for 30 seconds and then relax for 15 seconds. Repeat this process twice more and then do the opposite arm exactly the same way 3 times. Now turn your head to the left as far as it can go and then turn to the right as far as it can go. One direction will go further than the other so start with that one. Turn the head in that direction as far as you can go for 30 seconds and then rest it for 15. Repeat twice more and then do the opposite direction exactly the same way 3 times. Upon completion get up and walk around. There should be less pain and more mobility in the back. Return to the chair and do not enter into any area that generates pain but just stop short of the pain. Keep the feet and hips planted and turn the body to the left as far as you can without pain and then reverse directions and turn to the right as far as you can without pain. One side will go further so start with that side. Turn in that direction as far as you can without pain for 30 seconds and then rest for 15. Repeat twice more and then do the opposite direction. Remember not to enter any painful areas. Turn in that direction as far as you can without pain for 30 seconds and then rest for 15. Repeat twice more. Lastly, bring the Left knee up as close to the Right shoulder as possible without pain and then do the Right knee up as close to the Left shoulder as possible without pain. One combination will be closer so start with that combination. Bring that knee up as close to the opposite shoulder as possible without pain for 30 seconds and then rest for 15. Repeat twice more and then do the opposite combination exactly the same way 3 times. Upon completion get up and you should find that there is more mobility and less pain. Do those movements at least twice a day and more if possible. Hope that helps!

How do you relieve lower back pain?

I have been having extreme lower back pain lately.
I use a futon and a lower-back support chair.
I don’t have insurance, so a doctor or chiropracter is out of the question.

How do I get rid of temporary lower back pain?

My lower back has been hurting for about a week now. How do I get rid of the pain without having to go to the chiropractor? I’ve been taking OTC back pain relievers, and they seem to help a little bit. Do you have any alternatives. I’d appreciate it. Thanks.

Actually pain relievers will only give you temporary relief at most. If you have had pain for a week, the ice/heat will seldom work as it is more effective in those first 48 hours.

What you need to do is stretch a few muscles as they are the likely source of most of your pain, and also get your joints moving.

But then you need to stretch as this should help. even once the pain has eased, you still need to work on your back to make sure the pain doesn’t come back.
