Your back is a vital body part. It plays an essential role in every part of daily life. Since the back is so important, you want to keep up-to-date on information about back pain and its treatment.
Begin with this basic information.
Information on Back Pain #1 – What Is Your Back?
Back pain can best be understood when you understand the structure of your back, so let’s build a spine. Your back consists of 30 small bones called vertebrae. These bones are stacked on top of each other, and connected by ligaments, tendons, and muscles. Your stack of connected vertebrae is divided into four regions. From the base of your skull down to your pelvis, these four regions are:
1. Cervical or neck vertebrae – the top 7
2. Thoracic or upper back vertebrae – the next 12
3. Lumbar or lower back vertebrae – 5 more
4. Sacrum and coccyx – 6 fused bones at the spine’s base
Between your vertebrae are round, spongy cartilage pads called disks. Disks act as shock absorbers for your spine. A column-like spinal cord runs through your stack of vertebrae. It, too, is divided into segments similar to nearby vertebrae. Your spinal cord contains nerve roots and nerve rootlets that spread out, sending messages of pain from your back to your brain.
Information on Back Pain #2 – Back Pain’s Causes
Back pain is among the most common complaints. It is also one of the most painful. Since it can be difficult to treat, it is important that you have good information on back pain. Most good information on back pain will agree that when you lift something too heavy, you may cause a sprain, pull, strain, or spasm in one of the muscles or ligaments in your back. That will cause back pain.
Let’s look at more specific information on back pain.
1. Your cervical spine, or upper back, begins at the base of your skull. It is composed of seven vertebrae with eight pairs of cervical nerves. This part of your spine is designed to support your head and give you mobility.
Injury or mild trauma to the cervical spine can cause one of a number of serious, even life-threatening medical emergencies. You might have a spinal cord injury (SCI) or a fracture. Such injury could cause pain, numbness, weakness, and tingling.
2. Your thoracic spine is just below your cervical spine. Your ribs are connected to this part of the spine. Think of it as the back of your chest. Your thoracic spine is designed to be strong and stable, permitting you to stand upright and protecting your vital internal chest organs. Although thoracic, or middle back pain is rather uncommon, it causes significant pain when it does occur.
The most common causes of middle back pain are muscular irritation and joint dysfunction. You may injure a disk, and cause middle back pain, but such injuries are very rare.
3. Your lumbar spine, or lower back region, is most likely to experience pain. This is because your lumbar region supports the weight of your upper body. It takes the most abuse.
Many things can cause injury and pain to your lower back. As with all parts of the spine, muscle strain or spasm may occur when you lift or carry things that are too heavy. Sprains of ligaments occur in similar manner. You may experience joint problems or a “slipped disk.”
The most common cause of lumbar or lower back pain, though, is simply using your back muscles for actions you usually do not do. Perhaps you sit at a desk most days, but one weekend, you help friends move furniture. Or you normally teach school, but during the summer, you decide to create a large vegetable garden in your back yard.
A so-called “slipped disk” (herniated disk) occurs when a disk, one of those spongy cartilage pads between your spines vertebrae bulges out and presses on nerves. This often occurs when you twisting while lifting something. You may not know what caused your slipped disk, if it happens. You will know the lower back pain that comes as a result.
Information on Back Pain #3 – Back Pain and Your Physician
Not every back pain will require a visit to your physician. Many back pains can be treated effectively at home with heating pads and ice packs. Over-the-counter (OTC) medications can also give the relief needed. However, there are times when you will want your physician to give information on back pain, and prescribe treatment.
Seek a qualified physician if any of the following is true:
• Your pain is so bad you can’t move around
• Your pain is not less after two weeks
• Your pain was caused by an injury
• You have a fever
• You feel nauseous or are vomiting
• You have a stomachache
• You are weak or sweating
• Your pain goes down the leg below your knee
• You lose control over going to the bathroom
• Your foot, leg, rectal, or groin area is numb
Information on Back Pain #4 – Back Pain Prevention
Your health care provider, whether physician, chiropractor or other, will encourage you to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle as part of back pain prevention. The best information on back pain they can provide you is to avoid injury in the first place. Develop healthy back habits. The following five bad habits can cause back pain. Avoid them.
• Twisting when lifting
• Bad posture
• Lack of exercise and too much weight
• Smoking tobacco
• Ignoring back pain
The more information on back pain you have, the better prepared you will be to deal with it.

How can a Muslim like myself come back to the straight path?
Let me give you a little information of myself so that you can better assist me in my query. I was born Muslim but not really taught to follow any religion, just allowed to believe and follow whatever I want. Anyways I chose Islam. But I got lots of doubts and became agnostic and almost atheist. Anyhow that was when I was a younger teenager. Getting into my teen years though I stopped praying as often, and started becoming more interested in things considered to be haram (forbidden). One of these things was pornography and masturbation, which I still have a problem with till these days. And now since it’s so common for me to act out in such disgusting behavior old methods of masturbating no longer appeal to me so I’ve done even nastier and more sin regarding this matter. I masturbate and watch porn about once or twice on a day to day basis, and this is within the time frame from six years ago till today. Perhaps I’ve missed about a week total once within this period. I’ve also had this problem I believe comes from the shaytan where I think of the most insane/vulgar images of the Prophets, Quran, and Allah in my mind. Sometimes being sexual thoughts, ect. I cannot control them, they are like mind compulsions which I wish to stop. They are very satanic and I’d rather not mention them in full detail. It also involved insulting God and Muhammad and Islam ect. Both of these problems have contributed to me stop praying and losing track of faith and hope. There are absolutely no Muslims in my area as the majority who live here are christians and catholics are the only Muslims there are keep to themselves and I have no idea where they are. There are no mosques and no Islamic scholars to keep in contact or discuss these matters with, and they are perhaps too embarrassing to discuss with them even if those sources were available. As for my two addictions, they’re really causing problems in my life and I’ve tried so many advices anywhere from fasting, eating less meat, water diets. Praying. Reciting Quran. "Trying to get married-that definitely hasn’t worked yet". Don’t get me wrong I have lots of friends and family but they are all contributors to my issues as they are bad influences. I do not have a good society around me and do not have the means to do a hijrah to leave in search of a better place. In fact, I’ll probably be stuck here for the next twenty years. I’m a senior in high school now and God knows what’s next to happen. I really want to be a believer again but I keep getting doubts of God and I stop praying and masturbation and pornography aren’t healthy as every one has been saying, I KNOW ITS WRONG because I can feel the pain. I just wish that one day someone would tell me what I can do to fix it. It’s the biggest temptation I’ve ever had to dealt with and perhaps I don’t take it as easy as others I do now know. But I really want to change my life and get back on the straight path, but because I’m a revert in a sense I haven’t had good relations with other Muslims I’ve known online anyways. They’re always trying to prove I’m not Muslim or explain in a sense how they are better than me, and those who do not do that just seem to seclude themselves from me because I am not the same as them. I have no one to relate to either as I am Iranian and American and live in a place full of Mexican people. Of course there are good people every where but in general when influence is bad everyone in the area turns the same exact way. I’ve lost almost all my means of communication and feel even God (Allah) wont hear me because I’ve turned my back on him. I know you say there’s always a way to turn back to the path of Siratal Mustaqueem the true path but as long as I have this problem no matter how many times I come back to the true path I will continue to sway off again. Trust me, I’ve tried it many times. Please help me in my query and Allah bless whoever answers this question sincerely. Peace and Salam Alaykom.

Leave Islam. There is nothing "straight" about it.

you are not unique

it is part of growing up in this life
each one of us humans have a different story with our God
if you are sincere, honest and just you will get there
study other religions
see life model solutions
compare with the Islamic solution
fee free to criticize in a good way anything you do nt understand though being sarcastic
try to learn the wisdom for why things have been prescribed
make sure you differentiate between what is Islam and what is culture
also understand the difference between faith issues and state issues
faith issues never change
other regulations of state may vary with place and time
etc
do not worry about sinning as long as you are asking for forgiveness and sincerely trying to quit bad habits
I have known many people going through what you are going through but finally they come to realize why and how.
hopefully you will too!

There is only ONE Spiritual Path that leads to perfection of the Soul … the Path of Light. If you apply The Path Of Light to ANY religion, You will be on a rightous path.
"The Light" is the force, power, essense, effects, and strength
of ALL that is good, loving, constructive, positive, harmonious,
reconciling, etc., etc.
So to "follow the Path of Light" means to SEEK OUT everything that is good and positive and constructive and to INCORPORATE THAT THING into your daily life.
Regardless of your religion &/or what Diety you choose to worship, Alaykom, if you follow the Path of Light you can never offend your God because you would never do anything to harm another or yourself. I know that Islam requires a LOT of self-discipline, but i am pretty sure that Allah, blessed and rightous be His Name, is called "Loving and Merciful" in the Q’uran, is He not? That is of the Light … the Light shines from the "Loving and Merciful" to make the World a brighter place for all of us. We can not FORCE religion/religious beliefs down the throats of anyone … nor can we have sincere devotion from someone who follows a religion solely out of fear . The ONLY way a person will walk a True Path, whether in religion or any other thing, is when that person finds The Light in that which they believe in & that Light brings them Peace and Joyful satisfaction with who, what and where they are.
Learn to seek The Light and focus on that … it will make following Islam and the Q’uran much easier for you.
