This is a educational video we did to try and help other people who are doing crate rest therapy for a herniated disc. The reason we have decided to do crate rest vs surgery is because Pixie was operated 2 1/2 months ago for an other herniated disc and healed 98% and now he has a new disc that has herniated. This is after 3 days of vet crate rest and prevezone. 2nd day at home.

Back Pain from Poor Posture, Why Sit Up Straight? Easy Tips by Catz Austin Physical Therapy Poor posture and a slouched, slumped back can contribute to a wealth of physical dysfunction and pain in the back, hips, butt, thighs, legs, arms, shoulders, neck, hands, and well… you get the idea. In this video, Christie Powell, head of physical therapy at Catz Austin, explains how poor posture can cause low back pain and other issues like carpal tunnel and sciatica. This video and the rest of the series will give you easy tips and exercises to alleviate pain and discomfort. Often when we are sitting at the computer, watching TV or movies, playing video games, and driving, we slump into poor posture and a curved spine. This exerts pressure throughout the entire body and over time will severely weaken the shoulders and back so that sitting correctly becomes uncomfortable. The only way to improve posture is to begin changing your habits and to try and get in the habit of reminding yourself to sit up straight. A posture-buddy at work is a great idea so you can keep reminding each other, or you can set a timer or alarm on your desk. Part 2 will feature Ron Vaughn demonstrating some sports massage techniques to relax and unwind the muscles so the chest and pecs can loosen and open up, freeing the spine to move into its natural position. Part 3 will give you some easy exercises and stretches you can do at home to assist with a tight neck and shoulders or back pain. She also will show …

I’m more or less at my wits end. Every doctor I go to tells me that the xrays and MRI are showing nothing wrong with me and that I need to exercise.
I’m 22 years old, I shouldn’t be having chronic back pain that has no apparent cause. And at very least if it were a muscle strain I’d figure that 8 months would have been plenty of time for it to heal. I’m not in that bad of shape, I walk 2 or 3 miles a day.
I have more or less written off medication as a simple mask of the problem. The problem to me isn’t the pain, it’s whatever is causing the pain. In a way I’d rather deal with the pain until the real problem is identified and gotten rid of so it can serve as a reminder. I’m not sure my exercising is helping any and for some reason my doctors seem to think I’m making it up or they just want to perscribe me more pain killers.
Is there anything else I can do on my own to combat back pain?
Scott is one of the top gymnasts in the world. He suffered a herniated disc in a training accident. He went to Dr. Delamarter who rebuilt his back with the pedicle screw, which is sometimes used as an adjunct to spinal fusion surgery, it provides a means of gripping a spinal segment. The screws themselves do not fixate the spinal segment, but act as firm anchor points that can then be connected with a rod. The screws are placed at two or three consecutive spine segments (eg lumbar segment 4 and 5) and then a short rod is used to connect the screws. This construct prevents motion at the segments that are being fused. The treatment allowed Scott to compete for the next Olympics within one year. For about 2 months now I have been having pain on the right side by the waist area and back. It started off on the right side by the waist and the back and then now it is on my right leg. I did 2 abdominal cat scans. One showed liver enlgarged and the other (done with contrast) showed normal. At first one of the liver enzymes were slightly elevated but then a couple of weeks later they were not. However the sonogram showed liver enlarged. A few doctors said that the pain can be from a pinched nerve from the back but the MRI showed normal. Can it still be a pinched nerve from th spine even the the MRI was normal? I went to a neurologist and they said I should do an EMG to find out if it is a nerve pain or not. They also said that it can be from the epidural I took when I was in labor for my 4 months old son. The GI said that the enlarged liver can be from the pregnancy. Is this true? I am confused about all this. IF anyone has any suggestions let me know. Thanks.
